How to use this calculator

  1. Choose the date of birth. Use the date picker or type the date directly (YYYY-MM-DD).
  2. Check the “age as of” date. It is set to today automatically — change it only if you need the age on another date.
  3. Press Calculate. You get years, months and days, plus totals and the next birthday.
  4. Copy or reset. Copy Result copies the full breakdown as plain text; Reset clears both dates.

Useful information

Age is more than “this year minus that year”. This calculator subtracts the dates properly: if the birthday has not happened yet in the reference year, it borrows days from the previous month so the months and days are always correct.

Why can't I just subtract the years?

Someone born on 10 November 2000 is not yet 26 years old on 1 September 2026 — their 26th birthday is still two months away. The calculator reports 25 years, 9 months and 22 days instead, which is what forms, schools and offices usually expect.

Leap years

Real calendar dates are used throughout, so leap years take care of themselves. A person born on 29 February simply has their birthday on 28 February or 1 March in common years.

Total days and weeks

The totals below the main result show how many days and weeks have passed since birth — handy for countdowns, milestones and the occasional fun fact.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?

Enter your date of birth and the calculator subtracts it from today's date year, month and day, borrowing days from the previous month where needed, so you get an exact answer like 24 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Does this tool use today's date automatically?

Yes. The age is measured up to today by default, but you can change the “age as of” date to check someone's age on a past or future date, such as on a certificate or an upcoming birthday.

How are leap years handled?

Leap years are handled naturally because the calculator works with real calendar dates. Someone born on 29 February simply celebrates on 28 February or 1 March in non-leap years.

Is my date of birth stored anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated locally in your browser. Jivora never receives or stores your date of birth.
