How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the original price for one item, then the discount percentage being offered.
  2. Set the quantity if you're buying more than one — totals update for the whole basket.
  3. Add a second discount for stacked offers (coupon on top of a sale). It applies to the already-reduced price, exactly like stores do.
  4. Press Calculate for the sale price, total payable and total saved — then copy the breakdown.

Useful information

A discount is a percentage off the marked price. The maths is one line, but stacked offers trip people up — which is why the second-discount option exists.

Single discount

Sale price = price × (100 − discount %) ÷ 100. On ₹1,999 at 20% off: 1,999 × 0.8 = ₹1,599.20, saving ₹399.80.

Two discounts don't add up

20% then 30% gives a combined 44%, not 50%: a + b − (a × b ÷ 100) = 20 + 30 − 6. The second discount only applies to what's left after the first — the calculator shows the equivalent single rate so you can compare offers honestly.

Per item vs basket

Set the quantity to see both sides: the discounted unit price (useful for comparing shops) and the total payable for everything in the cart, alongside how much you saved overall.

After discounts, add tax: if GST or sales tax applies to the final price, run that figure through the GST Calculator next.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a discount?

Discount amount = price × discount % ÷ 100. The sale price is price − discount amount, or more directly price × (100 − discount %) ÷ 100.

How do two successive discounts combine?

They don't simply add: a then b equals a + b − (a × b ÷ 100). So 20% followed by 30% is 44% off in total, not 50% — the second discount applies to the already-reduced price.

Does this calculator include GST?

No — this tool works on the pre-tax price only. If GST applies, calculate the discounted price first, then add tax with the GST Calculator.

Can it handle multiple items?

Yes. Set the quantity and the result shows the discounted price per item alongside the original total, the final payable amount and the total saved.

Are my numbers stored?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser — prices are never sent to a server or saved by Jivora.
