How to use this remover
- Paste your list — names, emails, IDs, URLs or any values, one per line.
- Choose keep first or keep last. First keeps items in their original position; last keeps the newest copy of each repeated line.
- Tune matching if needed: ignore letter case for “Apple” vs “apple”, ignore surrounding spaces, or drop blank lines entirely.
- Copy the result — the counters show exactly how many lines went in, how many duplicates left and how many survived.
Useful information
Duplicate lines creep into lists from merged spreadsheets, concatenated logs, copy-pasted exports and repeated form entries. They skew counts, break imports and quietly inflate "unique" reports. Removing them takes seconds here.
First vs last occurrence
Keep first preserves position: the surviving line stays where it first appeared, which is what you want for ordered lists and rankings. Keep last keeps the final version, which matters when later copies were edited — the newest value wins.
When to loosen matching
Exact matching treats “user@example.com”, “ user@example.com ” and “User@example.com” as three different lines. Turning on both matching options collapses them into one. When deduplicating emails or IDs, that's usually the behaviour you want.
Order is preserved
The tool never sorts or shuffles: surviving lines stay in your original order (with keep-last, each kept line sits at its final position). If you also want the list sorted or shuffled, that is a different transformation — this tool's only job is removing repeats.
Privacy: everything runs in this tab. Your list is never sent anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How does the duplicate line remover work?
Every line is compared against the lines seen so far. When a repeat is found, it is dropped and the unique version is kept — the result updates live as you type, and the status line reports exactly how many lines were removed.
Keep first or last occurrence?
Keep first preserves the original position of each unique line; keep last keeps the version that appeared last, which is useful when later duplicates carry newer edits. Order of the surviving lines follows your choice.
Can it ignore case and spacing?
Yes. Turn on ignore letter case to treat "Apple" and "apple" as the same line, and turn on ignore surrounding spaces so leading and trailing whitespace doesn't hide a duplicate. Both are off by default — matching is exact until you say otherwise.
What happens to empty lines?
Blank lines are counted and reported separately, and you can drop them entirely with the empty-lines toggle. Keep it off if your text uses blank lines as paragraph separators.
Is my list stored anywhere?
No. The whole job runs in your browser tab — nothing is sent to a server, saved or logged by Jivora.
